There are a variety of opportunities for you to make a difference in our local
community. Contact one of our Ministry Partners listed below to find out how you might
be able to help.
Academy of Life
Academy of Life is part of LifeSearch Ministries under the direction of Jim and Dot
Cannon. One ministry they offer is a Residential Life and Trade Skills Program to
assist individuals wishing to improve their station in life. They also offer
counseling and assistance in job placement, overcoming habits that are destructive
to a productive life, family counseling, and more to individuals who are making a
fresh start. The ministry is located in Travelers Rest.
Bethany Christian Services
Bethany Christian Services is a Christian adoption and family services agency which seeks to improve
the lives of children and families. With over 75 locations nationwide and international
ministries in 15 other countries, Bethany touches the lives of more than 30,000 people
each year. Bethany is widely known as an adoption agency, but our Christian care extends
to people struggling with unplanned pregnancies, infertility, and a multitude of other
challenges.
Child Evangelism Fellowship
Child Evangelism Fellowship has been sharing the love of Jesus Christ with children
around the world almost 70 years. Believing that kids are near to God's heart and that
He is uniquely concerned for their spiritual welfare, CEF provides training and
materials. CEF Good New Clubs meet after school hours to reach children with the gospel
and disciple them in God’s truth. They also offer a summer ministry for high school and
college students—Christian Youth in Action—which trains students to teach in 5-Day Clubs
offered in many area neighborhoods.
Gideons International
The Gideons International serves as an extended missionary arm of the church: its sole
purpose is to win men, women, boys and girls to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ
through association for service, personal testimony, and distributing the Bible in the human
traffic lanes and streams of everyday life. The administrative funding and much of the
printing is funded personally by Gideons themselves allowing 100% of all donated funds from
churches and individuals to go toward the purchase of Bibles in most major languages of the
world.
Greenville Connect
GreenvilleConnect exists to bring together local followers of Jesus in ways that express our love
for God and our neighbors. They believe that practical expressions of love coupled with sharing
the good news is essential. Comprised of churches, business and community leaders and local
ministries across the Greater Greenville Area, GreenvilleConnect seeks to facilitate relationships
in our community so that others begin to experience and live by Christ's love. By providing
people-to-people connections which transcend economic, cultural, racial, and community boundaries,
GreenvilleConnect seeks to link believers in Kingdom-building enterprises.
Habitat for Humanity
If you’d like to take part in our 2010 spring build, stop by Registration West in our Commons area March 7, 14,
or 21 for more information and to sign up.
The mission of Habitat for Humanity is to strengthen our community by providing decent, affordable homes
to low-income working families. Southside Fellowship is in the HfH Golden Strip Church Coalition. In
addition to funds we contribute as congregations, HfHGSCC asks volunteers to provide most of the labor,
and individual and corporate donors to provide funding and materials to build Habitat homes. Homeowner
families invest hundreds of hours of labor into building their own homes and the homes of other partner
families. We are glad to join with area churches to serve others in this very tangible
way. Every Spring we ask volunteers to sign up to serve during the
three week "blitz build" which our coalition sponsors. Whether you work several days or several hours,
it's a great way to give yourself away on behalf of others!
Miracle Hill Ministries
Miracle Hill Ministries was founded in 1937 and is the largest provider of emergency shelter in
upstate South Carolina. Miracle Hill Rescue Mission in Greenville, Miracle Hill Mission in Spartanburg,
Miracle Hill Children’s Home, Miracle Hill Mission in Cherokee County, Miracle Hill Boys Shelter,
Miracle Hill Shepherd’s Gate, Miracle Hill Relief Ministry, Operation Andrew, and Miracle Hill Thrift
Operations are all part of this ministry. They provide meals for the homeless and needy as well as
safe shelter, clothing, counseling, rehabilitation help, and spiritual nurturing. Miracle Hill Ministries
welcomes volunteers.
Piedmont Women's Center
Piedmont Women's Center opened its door on April 2, 1991 to provide free pregnancy tests and counseling
to clients one day a week. The ministry has grown to three centers and an administrative office which
is open full-time. PWC provides a wide variety of services: pregnancy and adoption information; support
groups; referrals for medical and legal aid; abstinence, sex and sexually transmitted disease education;
and a post-abortion recovery ministry. Piedmont Women's Center is an oasis of hope committed to
demonstrating the love of Christ to those with pregnancy-related needs and they welcome volunteers.
Truth Ministry
Truth Ministry seeks to bless and encourage those who struggle with issues of sexual identity. They
specialize in providing support and counsel to men and women who have often suffered deep wounds as
children which influenced their desire to seek love and acceptance in the gay community. As a chapter
of Exodus International, the staff of Truth Ministry testify to the wholeness and healing Jesus brings.
Truth Ministry ministers to families whose loved ones have pursued a course of destructive behavior.
In providing individual counseling, support groups, and solid biblical teaching, Truth Ministry seeks
to be a strong ministry partner with Southside Fellowship.
Wayfarer Ministries
Wayfarer Ministries is a unique, high-energy team of writers, speakers, and servants who find creative
ways to challenge young professionals to be all out followers of Jesus. The ministry changes with the
seasons but always holds to the same purpose: calling people to live passionately for the glory of God.
Wayfarer Ministries brings Engage (a ministry to twenty-somethings) to Greenville every Tuesday night
during the school year. They also create curriculum for students to which hundreds of churches
subscribe. The speaker team stays very active ministering in summer camps as well. Southside Fellowship
is pleased to have Wayfarers as a local ministry partner!
