Bible Doctrine by Wayne Grudem
 |
How do we know the Bible is God’s Word? What is sin and where did it come from?
How is Jesus fully God and fully man? What are spiritual gifts? When and how will
Christ return? If you’ve asked questions like these, then “systematic theology” is
no abstract term. It’s an approach to | finding answers every
Christian needs to know.
Bible Doctrine takes a highly commended upper-level textbook on systematic
theology and makes it accessible to the average reader. Abridged from Wayne
Grudem’s award-winning Systematic Theology, Bible Doctrine covers the same
essentials of the faith, giving you a firm grasp on seven key topics:
• The Doctrine of the Word of God
• The Doctrine of God
• The Doctrine of Man
• The Doctrines of Christ and the Holy Spirit
• The Doctrine of the Application of Redemption
• The Doctrine of the Church
• The Doctrine of the Future.
Like Systematic Theology, this book is marked by its clarity, its strong scriptural
emphasis, its thoroughness in scope and detail, and its treatment of such timely
topics as spiritual warfare and the gifts of the Spirit. But you don’t need to have
had several years of Bible school to reap the full benefits of Bible Doctrine. It’s
easy to understand—and it’s packed with solid, biblical answers to your most important
questions.
The Gospel Primer
by Milton Vincent
 |
To the Christians in Rome, the Apostle Paul wrote, "I am eager to preach the gospel to
you who are at Rome" (Romans 1:15). Evidently, Christians need to hear the gospel
even after conversion. A Gospel Primer for Christians is designed to do just that.
Use this book to preach the gospel to yourself on a daily | basis, and be amazed
at the difference it can make in your life!
How People Change by Paul Tripp and Tim Lane
 |
A changed heart is the bright promise of the gospel. When the Bible talks about the gift of
a new heart, it doesn't mean a heart that is immediately perfected, but a heart
that is capable of being changed. Jesus' work on the cross targets our hearts---
our core desires and motivations---and when our hearts change, our | behavior
changes. It's amazing to watch people who once seemed stuck in a pattern of words,
choices, and behaviors start living in a new way as Christ changes their hearts.
Instruments in the Redeemer's Hands by Paul Tripp
 |
Intruments in the Redeemer's Hands is
a comprehensive treatment in the lives of others, people who themselves are in
need of change. In many ways, the church today has more consumers than committed
participants. We see church merely as an event we attend or an organization we
belong | to, rather than as a calling that shapes our entire life. The author
explains how his work follows an "all of my people, all of the time model."
If you followed the Lord for a thousand years, you would still need the ministry
of the body of Christ as much as you did the day you first believed. This need
will remain until our sanctification is complete in Glory.
The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones
 |
The Jesus Storybook Bible tells the story beneath all the stories in the Bible. At the
center of the story is a baby, the child upon whom everything will depend. Every
story whispers his name. From Noah to Moses to the great King David--every story |
points to him. He is like the missing piece in a puzzle--the piece that makes all
the other pieces fit together. From the Old Testament through the New Testament,
as the story unfolds, children will pick up the clues and piece together the puzzle.
A Bible like no other, this book invites children to join in the greatest of all
adventures, to discover for themselves that Jesus is at the center of God's great
story of salvation--and at the center of their story too.

rational belief.

What God Has Always Wanted by Charlie Boyd
 |
If a child
asked, "What's the Bible all about?" how would you answer? This could be more
difficult than you think..."Uh, well, the Bible is about...God, Jesus, sin,
salvation...going to | heaven...being good...doctrine." All those are important,
yet none qualify as the Bible's "big idea."
Part of the problem is how we've come to view the Bible. We see sixty-six separate
books instead of one story--God's Story. Because we've not been clear on this
ourselves, we've not been able to make it clear to our children. As a result,
kids raised in the church hear a lot of Bible stories. But rarely do they see
how these fit together into one story. In other words, we teach Bible stories,
but not the Bible's Story.
So what is the Bible all about? Simply this -- God wants to live in friendship
(relationship) with us both now and forever. We see this in Genesis where God walked
in the garden with Adam and Eve and in Revelation: "Behold, the tabernacle of God is
among men, and He will dwell among them" (Revelation 21:3).
What God Has Always Wanted highlights God's desire to live with His people using a
kid-friendly storyline. This overview of the Bible will help you and your child
see what the Bible is really all about.
